Vinyasa Flow and Live Music with Girish

On Sunday November 19th, Yoga Fever invites you to join us in welcoming celebrated yogi and musician Girish to Grand Rapids!

Shannon Austin will lead a 90 minute practice as we flow to live music with Girish.  This vinaysa class will not be heated and will be accessible to all levels. This uplifting yoga practice paired with beautiful live rhythms is designed to leave students expanded and renewed.

Who is Girish?

For as long as he can remember, Girish has created rhythm to accompany life. His first experience of music as sacred art came in college, playing with jazz bands. “During improvisational sessions,” he recalls, “there were these unexplainable moments of synchronicity and intuition that felt like magic.” This led Girish to an unexpected journey—a seeming detour to live as a monk in an ashram for five years that inadvertently nourished his musical artistry. Here, he studied Sanskrit as a means to understand the deeper meanings of ancient chants, which sparked a life-changing event that led him back to music—and to combining music with Sanskrit chants. Now he shares what he’s learned to help people of all ages, backgrounds, and traditions to transform body, brain, and life through mantra and music.

This class will sell out.

November 19 - $28 early bird pricing | $33 at the door

Moment of Peace: Mindfulness 4 Week Series

Yoga Fever Presents Moment of Peace with Claire Crowley

Yoga Fever presents Moment of Peace with Claire Crowley. This is a 4 week course for opportunity to experience emotional well-being through the practice of meditation. These classes gently guide students through specific meditation techniques meant to keep the mind alert while resting its attention on guided material. The contemplative practice encourages watching the mind and accepting what is, in order to free the mind of the distractions which cause emotional and physical suffering.  Moment of Peace aspires to help you savor each moment, embrace all that your life offers and celebrate the joy of everyday.

These workshops are a blend of restorative meditation, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness training.  Also included is journaling (you may bring your own journaling material), small group discussion and Q&A. These courses are not heated but taught in a warm and welcoming environment accessible to all.  We will not be working yoga asana during these workshops.  Please bring a small cushion or mediation cushion for comfortable seating.

About Claire Crowley:

Currently, Claire is instructing the contemplative practices of yoga and meditation at both Grand Valley State University and Aquinas College as credited courses for students. She also taught at CYS for 10 years until her desire to find another way to bring these practices to more people lead her to conducting meditation research. She is currently involved in 2 research projects exploring the impact of the long term meditation practice on college students. The first has been accepted for publication in the College Students Journal 2017.

The creation of Moment of Peace, arose from designing and implementing a 3 credit meditation college course at the Honors School at Grand Valley State University where Claire began to truly see the fruition of the meditation practice in her students. This gave way to the desire again to find ways to offer this healing practice to more people. She has committed her life to helping others experience the depth and richness of life through these practices.
